During my recent stay at a traditional hotel in Hongu, I had the pleasure of experiencing exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. One particular highlight was when I realized I had left some valuable belongings behind. The hotel staff promptly contacted me to inform me that they would personally mail the items back to me in the US. This level of attentiveness and care truly made my stay special. The traditional breakfast and dinner served at the hotel were also a delightful experience, with the staff taking the time to explain each dish and its accompanying sauce. I had a wonderful time at this hotel and would highly recommend it.

We spent our Xmas holiday at a ryokan in Hongu for our Kumano Kodo trekking. the food was delicious and abundant, and we loved the onsen. the location was also great, with easy access to the hiking trails and nearby attractions such as the Kawayu Onsen. the traditional room provided a unique and authentic experience.
The overall quality of the facilities. the public baths were old and not well maintained, and the smell was unpleasant.

Great food and private onsen!
Spent Christmas at a ryokan in the hills. The food was amazing and there was a private onsen which was a great experience. The ryokan was conveniently located near a lovely onsen town and close to the Kumano Kodo trail. The staff were very friendly and spoke English well which made communication easy.
Our room was located next to the stairs and it was very noisy. We asked for a different room but the front desk staff were unhelpful.

The wifi connection was not great and it was a little challenging to stay connected.
